    Safety Tips Before Visiting Dubai

According to the World Population Review, Dubai ranks 28th as the safest city in the world. This makes it a go-to choice for females who want to view the luxuries of this land alone. However, it is best to still learn about the safety rules to stay away from unfamiliar situations. This section will share some of the key tips you must know before booking your flight to this city of gold. Let’s uncover them:

    emergrncy contacts

    1. Learn Emergency Contacts

One of the most effective ways to stay safe is to memorise the emergency contact numbers of the city. Every city has special numbers for its citizens to dial in case they encounter any uncomfortable scenario. In Dubai, several departments can be reached instantly. This includes police, fire department, or ambulance.

If you are visiting the country for the first time, then save these contacts in your Notes app on your phone or write them down in a little diary and place them somewhere safe with you. Following are the numbers of the relevant departments:

    Police: 999

    Ambulance: 998

    Fire Department: 997

    Coastguard: 996

Dubai has a highly efficient emergency response system. It also has excellent hospitals that will provide you with world-class medical treatment. However, you must have health insurance to cover the expenses since medical care is quite costly here.

    2. Avoid Drugs

This city has a zero-tolerance policy for drugs. Even carrying a small amount of substance could land you a long time behind the jail. As per the Federal Decree By Law on Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances. The carrier will be fined AED 5,000 to AED 20,000 for the first time. However, if the offender commits this crime a second time, he will face a penalty of AED 10,000 to AED 30,000. Also, he will be deported from the country and banned for three years. Moreover, if someone still brings illegal drugs for the third time, he would be paying a hefty fine of AED 50,000 to AED 100,000. The offender will be permanently banned from coming to Dubai ever again.

In the case of medical drugs, you might be allowed to take them in the city, given you have the doctor’s prescription note with you.

    3. Respect Religion

Dubai is a city that welcomes every religion with open arms. While minorities exist, this land is a Muslim-majority city with Islam practised here. When going for tourism, you must respect the religious opinions of the locals, even if you are an atheist! No matter what you have heard from the media regarding Islam, it is better to keep your mouth shut, unless you want to get cold stares or even sacked by the locals. The Arabs consider religion as an important part of their lives and would not stand any blasphemous remark against it. Thus, it is best not to invite an angry mob to yourself!

    4. Dress Properly

You must dress properly when in Dubai. While men can wear anything, women tourists must be extra careful with their clothes. It is highly discouraged to reveal your figure in public places. Moreover, Dubai’s temperatures can be unpredictable when it comes to summer. The average temperature can reach over 42 degrees from June to August. Winter temperatures can range between 14-25 degrees, making it an ideal time for the visitors for outdoor activities. You must pack warm clothes such as jackets to avoid catching the flu.

    5. Swim Safely

Dubai has stunning beach spots including the magnificent Palm Jumeirah- a man-made island archipelago which consists of multiple overwater bungalows and private pools. Before you decide to do a cannonball in the waters, look out for three different coloured flags to swim safely. The red coloured flag warns about not swimming at all. Yellow one means you can swim but with some caution while the purple flag points towards deadly creatures like jellyfish in the sea. Moreover, you should swim only when any lifeguard is present there. This will save you from being carried away by the waves.

    6. Prevent Rash Driving

While Dubai takes pride in its luxury cars, you must drive calmly in your Lamborghini. Don’t risk your life by overspeeding in prohibited areas as it can result in major fines. Visitors who want to rent a car for their outings must be of 21 years age or older and have an international driver’s license. You must wear seat belts at all times and fasten your toddlers in the child seat properly. No relaxation is given for rash driving so it’s best not to be inspired by Fast and Furious movies on the streets. Various traffic monitoring cameras have been installed in the city to maintain a smooth flow. Hidden cameras are also placed to capture speedy drivers, who exceed beyond the defined limit.

    Sum Up

This blog has discussed some of the safety tips that every tourist must know before travelling to Dubai. With its strict law enforcement, crime rates are almost non-existent. Still, it is best for tourists to stay safe within the bustling city. From learning emergency contacts to avoiding overspeeding, visitors must remain away from accidents and unpleasant situations.
